FP7 projects ARCAS and euRathlon collaborate to deliver training in Robotics

A workshop jointly organised by the euRathlon and ARCAS (Aerial Robotics Cooperative Assembly System) projects will take place from the 15^th to the 18^th of June 2014  at the Center for Advanced Aerospace Technologies (CATEC) in Seville, Spain.

The four-day course is targeted at postgraduate and PhD students, researchers, engineers and other stakeholders in the domain of Robotics, and is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to gain practical experience of using outdoor autonomous robots in a range of different domains.

The workshop will involve the use of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and will also address how the capabilities of these systems can be combined to create teams of robots that can accomplish realistic emergency response activities. Participants will also be encouraged to join new teams for the euRathlon Challenge in 2015 in Italy.

The aim of the euRathlon project is to organise outdoor competitions to test the intelligence and autonomous capabilities of robots in simulated scenarios inspired by the 2011 Fukushima nuclear catastrophe. The ARCAS project aims to produce a framework for the design and developments of aerial robots for assembly operations in order to pave the way for integrated functionalities and new applications in aerial and space robotics. Like ICARUS, both projects are funded by the European Commission under its Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
