The ICARUS project has been invited to participate to INSARAG's forthcoming Global Meeting alongside key players from the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (ISDR), the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) Secretariat.

This global Meeting is set to prepare a contribution to the World Humanitarian Summit in 2016 with the INSARAG Abu Dhabi Declaration, embracing themes for a new agenda towards prioritising effectiveness, management of risk and transformation of innovation.

INSARAG – the INternational Search And Rescue Advisory Group – is a global network of more than 80 countries and organisations under the United Nations umbrella. INSARAG deals with urban search and rescue (USAR) related issues, aiming to establish minimum international standards for USAR teams and methodology for international coordination in earthquake response.

The aim of the INSARAG Global Meeting, taking place from 18 to 20 October 2015 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is to reaffirm INSARAG's commitment to the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 57/150 of 2002, on "Strengthening the Effectiveness and Coordination of International Urban Search and Rescue Assistance".
