The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) has released a policy paper on "Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Humanitarian Response" which analyses the state-of-the-art of UAV technology and outlines its potential application in the fields of disaster response and humanitarian aid.
The ICARUS project was featured in the paper as an example of promising future use of UAVs in the context of search and rescue operations.
