Participation of ICARUS in the workshop organised by the European Defence Agency on European Unmanned Maritime Systems

The European project ICARUS will be presented in a workshop on European Unmanned Maritime Systems organised by the European Defence Agency (EDA), the management committee of the EDA UMS Programme and the European Commission at the Belgian Royal Military Academy.

The event, which will take place next 23 and 24 May, is open to Industry Research Institutes and Government Organisations from the EDA Member States and Norway. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange information on current and recently completed Research and Technology (R&T) work-strands in the area of Unmanned Maritime Systems.

To reach this purpose, the chairs of projects running under the UMS programme umbrella will share their experiences next to representatives of projects funded under the European Commission Framework Programme such as ICARUS (Integrated Components for Assisted Rescue and Unmanned Search Operations).

The participants will get a close view of this initiative that with a global budget of 17.5 M€ aims at bridging the gap between Research community and end-users, by developing a toolbox of integrated components for unmanned Search and Rescue (SAR).

It is worth to mention that the ICARUS project, coordinated by the Belgian Royal Military Academic, kicked-off last February and it counts with partners from Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, France, Austria, Portugal, United Kingdom and Italy.
