Royal Military Academy of Belgium to host the 2014 Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Civil Operations Conference

The ICARUS project coordinator, the Royal Military Academy of Belgium, is hosting the Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Civil Operations (RPAS CivOps) Conference between the 2nd and the 4th of December 2014 in Brussels. The aim of the international three-day event is to improve awareness of civil RPAS operations, to provide a platform for RPAS operators to outline their requirements and to inform the RPAS community of the ongoing regulatory activities in Europe. An update on the status of the RPAS Roadmap being developed by the European Commission as well as plans for its future implementation will also be featured.

More than 40 speakers from 17 different countries will deliver presentations, addressing critical issues such as safety, liability and insurance. Topics such as the current legal bottlenecks, technical and performance requirements, system and sub-system developments, customer requirements for aerial operations, novel operations, operational experience and lessons learned will be addressed. Panel discussions will also encourage the active participation of the audience.
